Workshop: Creating GREAT Citizen Engagement Software
The Workshop: Creating GREAT Citizen Engagement Software brought together developers of citizen engagement software to discuss the realities of the market as it stands today. It was a great success, and the attendees became the founding members of the Open Model for Citizen Engagement.
GovLuv
GovLuv is a Twitter solution oriented around communication with government officials. It is unique in that is concerned not only with the voice of the government, but also with what citizens are saying to their representatives. It provides means of aggregating incoming tweets, filtering them to show only what you’re interested in, and to join the conversation by replying inline. In short, it is a step towards making sense of a conversation that, potentially, involves everyone! Visit GovLuv.org to see for yourself.
CongressCamp
CongressCamp began as a barcamp on September 12 and 13, 2009, focused on bringing together individuals to discuss “transforming citizen engagement with Congress through social media and collaboration tools.” The event was a huge success, and the ongoing momentum carrying forward into a number of interesting projects, including more events, the creation of a wiki-based guide for use of online communications by Congressional offices, and a coalition of organizations and individuals that are committed to working on the issues in this space. Visit CongressCamp.org for more information or to get involved.
Mapping Political Communications
If we are to smooth the transition to a new paradigm in political communication, we need to know where we’re coming from. Today, this communication is complex, multi-faceted, and confusing. We are in the early stages of mapping this communication so that the community that is working on these issues can see where their efforts have already made a difference and where they are desperately needed. THIS. is going to be fun.
