Meeting Minutes Summary
NEW BOARD MEMBER
Meagen Ryan introduced herself as a marketing strategist with Rock Creek Strategic Marketing. She met Wayne at a conference. Her area of expertise is in messaging and fundraising.
After Meagen got off the phone, we voted unanimously to add her to the Board of Directors. Dave suggested that her title include “Chair, Fundraising Committee” since her expertise is in fundraising, along with marketing and branding. Dave and Wayne will work with her on the strategy of the Fundraising Committee and on how best to set up a Board of Governors.
Meagen has already been quite involved in the branding of O.F.F. and has been working with Wayne on the mission, elevator pitch, tagline, and a single-fold four-page handout to send to potential donors. The Tenets of Responsive Government will be folded in this.
REPORT FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Wayne was able to raise $3,500 in three days (see his blog post for more details). He will be focusing on fundraising and networking, along with delegating and directing, almost exclusively moving forward.
GovLuv is up and running and feedback is coming in. It is currently being improved for use by representatives and Paris Marron is volunteering by searching out twitter accounts for government reps.
Wayne is departing on Tuesday for Barcelona to attend the Personal Democracy Forum. He will be staying with a Spanish lawyer and has already made some great connections in advance.
Wayne will resurrect work on CongressCamp after he returns from Barcelona.
Wayne will be speaking at the Gov 2.5 conference on December 13th, giving a 20 minute speech on “The Many Faces of Twitter and Constituent Engagement.”
GovLoop’s Awesome Gov Feedback Forum is running a competition, so we should ask our contacts to vote for the O.F.F. by 12/15. Board members should tweet it, post it on their facebook pages, and so forth.
UPCOMING MEETINGS
The next phone meeting will be Sunday January 10th at 7:00p.
The next in-person meeting is tentatively scheduled for July 4th – 5th, 2010.
