Tax Deductible?

Upon receipt of our 501(c)3 approval from the IRS, your contribution will be fully tax-deductible. The approval will be retroactive to our date of incorporation – October 20, 2008.

Will we get it?

We are very optimistic about this and here’s why: We have talked to and reviewed the 1023 forms (application for 501(c)3 approval) for organizations with similar missions (Gateway to Gov and DemocracyLab). They both received their approval in about three months and filled out the form themselves. We have gone the extra step of hiring a lawyer with extensive familiarity of the approval process to ensure our success.

At the time of submittal, there was a backlog in the IRS review process of approximately 90 days, so we have set our expectations at 6 months. This hopefully-pessimistic time frame means that we expect to receive our approval letter in early November.

If you would like more information, the 1023, along with our Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws are available from the Legal Documents page. If you have any additional questions or comments, do not hesitate to contact us – full contact information is available on the bottom right of every page.

We can’t really give a 3% commission to Google – they already are half way to world dominance, right?

I will figure out a way to help you out on this endeavor.

Kirk

Thanks, Kirk – you’re so cool!
