Help:Contents
From The Open Forum Foundation Community
Here's the quick overview:
- You need to CREATE AN ACCOUNT to add information. Do that by clicking Create an Account from the Log in screen, available on the upper right of every page.
- EDITING
- See the Editing Help page for more information.
- The TABS at the top are your friends!
- You are on the page tab when you first arrive at a new page.
- The discussion tab takes you to a page that is specifically intended for, you guessed it, discussion! The format should be fairly obvious. If there is nothing on the discussion page, don't let that dissuade you, just click 'Start a New Discussion' and away you go!
- The edit tab will allow you to edit the page that you are on - see a spelling mistake? Please fix it!
- The history tab will show you a list of all the changes that have been made to the page that you're on with the ability to undo most anything (this is why you shouldn't be afraid of correcting that spelling mistake!)
- The watch tab makes it easy for you to follow any changes that are made to a page by putting them on your watchlist. Then by visiting your watchlist, you can quickly catch up with everything that you're interested in next time you visit.
- Etiquette and Standards
- The same general rules apply here that apply anywhere else -- everyone wants to participate and have their voice heard, so be nice! Don't delete something unless you're sure it shouldn't be there or anywhere else! If you're unsure, mark it - just put in a little note right after it asking if it should be removed.
- If you're not sure if your recommendation should go on the main page, just put it on the discussion page.
- If you put something in the wrong place, someone else will fix it for you, so be considerate but not paranoid.
- Further Info
- Mediawiki has wonderful help if you want to do fancier things.
- If you need to use the standard WikiText to do something that you can't make work with the rich editor, you can learn all about that here.
- You can also search their entire help system with the box on the left of their page - it works the same as Wikipedia, if you're familiar with that, this should be easy!
