Currently we are not pursuing government funding other than keeping up with the information below.
Researching
There is so much going on with the stimulus money that we should be keeping a close eye on it. We want to be up-to-date as more information becomes available.

Social Innovation Fund

Part of the Serve America Act 2009- (which goes into effect in October 2009)
Funding is contingent upon congressional approval of the FY 2010 budget.
A Notice of Funding Opportunity will be posted in fall 2009<span style="font-size: 12pt" />
Details on the Social Innovation Fund (link)
- The Social Innovation Fund is administered by Corporation for National and Community Service (link)
- CNCS provides funds to exsisting grant making instituions, grantees match the fund and provide grants to organizations
- There are several areas the fund focuses on- one is Civic Engagement

It seems like there is no access to these funds yet, as they are part of the 2010 budget.
A White House Press Release discuss the Social Innovation Fund requested as part of President Obama's 2010 Budget:
"The White House Office of Social Innovation and Civic Participation will coordinate efforts to enlist all Americans –individuals, non-profits, social entrepreneurs, corporations and foundations – as partners in solving our great challenges. Located within the Domestic Policy Council, it will:
Catalyze partnerships between the government and nonprofits, businesses and philanthropists in order to make progress on the President’s policy agenda
Identify and support the rigorous evaluation and scaling of innovative, promising ideas that are transforming communities like, for example, Harlem Children’s Zone, YouthVillages, Nurse-Family Partnership, and Citizen Schools.
Support greater civic participation through new media tools
Promote national service. "
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 provides funding for nonprofit organizations in these areas:
- Arts & Humanities
- Education and Internet Access (including assistance to schools and higher ed institutions)
- Special Education
- Broadband Technologies Opportunities
- School Improvement
- Employment and Job Training
- Energy Conservation
- Housing and Community Development
- Head Start and Early Head Start
- Child Care
- Emergency Food and Shelter
- Food and Nutrition
- Health Centers
- Prevention & Wellness Programs
- National Service (including “nonprofit capacity building grants”)
Keep In Mind for the Future
Once we have an understanding of the stimulus money we should be able to factor how regularly we can pursue funding.
